Therapy & Process Group
The purpose of a process group is to create a space where where your experience can be openly expressed and worked with in connection with others. To be able to share how you are dealing with life’s difficult issues with others who share similar struggles can be healing in it of itself. In group therapy, people can benefit from the sense of community it creates and learn from each other. My role in this therapy is to guide and facilitate. I help clients slow down the process and move through both their own stories and the interactions in the group.
Group therapy also provides people the opportunity, not only to be seen by a therapist, but to feel understood by others. It can show us that we are capable of building community and having healthy connections with others, which can in-turn inspire us to build that into our own lives. There is unique kind of healing that may only be possible when we stand witness for others and allow others to stand witness for us. Through this process we can practice moving through deeper emotional struggles, practice compassion and empathy for one another, develop the courage to embrace our individuality, and support one another to make difficult changes when the time comes.
Key issues that might make group therapy a fit for you:
Struggling to form healthy relationships
Social and interpersonal anxiety
Difficulty in trusting others
Feeling the need to constantly please others
Struggling with low self-esteem or sense of self
Often experiencing loneliness
Difficulty in expressing thoughts and emotions
Struggling with a sense of alienation from others
“The world is empty if one thinks only of mountains, rivers & cities; but to know someone who thinks & feels with us, & who is close to us in spirit, this makes the earth for us an inhabited garden.”
