About Daniel Cobar
My approach fundamentally involves turning towards our experience of the world with curiosity. There is a tremendous power in being curious about our inner world, how that stands in relationship to our outer experiences, and leveraging this awareness towards change. Through this approach we can learn to hold life’s complexities and even its contradiction as being a part of the whole of who we are. I have enjoyed working with clients of diverse cultural origins, gender expressions, spiritual paths and value structures. I take a culturally sensitive approach that centers the meaning you make of experience rather than assuming what is or isn’t. I believe that creating a safe and open environment is crucial to moving more readily towards healing and resolution.
I have been trained from a psychodynamic perspective, but I also integrate other modalities according to the needs of those I serve. I work with the struggles that arise from trying to make fruitful connections, finding purpose and meaning in the face of uncertainty, and fostering the strength necessary to meet the world’s challenges in a way that is unique to each of us. As I believe that storytelling is among the more powerful capabilities humanity has, I see value in exploring those stories, the way we tell them, and what it might mean to construct new stories that apprehend our lives. I hope to help clients live from a greater understanding that allows them to navigate the world with a greater sense of agency.
Clients tend to appreciate my warmth, inquisitiveness, and grounded nature as well as my openness to the many ways we express ourselves to each other. Outside of my work I find enrichment in my hobbies of being a musician and writer as well exploring my interest in philosophy and mythology.
